©2008 PKR Pete – Gus Hansen is my all time favorite Poker Player, he is from Copenhagen, Denmark, but now resides in Monte Carlo in Monaco. He was a world class backgammon player, and also plays many other sports such as tennis and even as far as becoming a youth champion, so far, Gus has made 7.1 million US dollars in live tournaments. He has won three World Poker Tour open tournaments (the only player to do that), in Sep 2006 he won The London All Star Challenge on the European Poker Masters, winning £53,600, he has also won the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament taking home a cool $1,000,000 US
His style of play amazes me, sure he can get lucky, but that is Poker right? I could only imagine what it would be like to play against Gus. He is a loose player, and plays very aggressively, he often bets with absolutely nothing! sometimes winning on the river, or with everyone folding, so when he does have the nuts (nuts = great cards), he swallows up all of your chips quicker than pacman can get through level 1.
And who can forget this High Stakes Poker hand with Daniel Negreanu (I know its old, but that also means classic).
I’m sure we will see Gus Hansen winning a World Series of Poker Bracelet (which is like an NFL superbowl ring for poker), I hope so, he is really amazing to watch and is great for the game.
